Flooring Xtra Warranties

Lifetime Installation Warranty

Our Lifetime Installation Warranty applies to flooring installation services only. In addition to any manufacturer’s product warranty, this warranty provides peace of mind that your flooring has been installed to an acceptable standard by a Flooring Xtra store.

All Flooring Xtra stores guarantee their installation workmanship, subject to the conditions below.

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Scope of Warranty

  • This warranty applies to residential, owner-occupied installations only.
  • It does not apply to:
    • Commercial installations
    • Rental or investment properties
    • Installations undertaken for builders or developers

This warranty is not transferable and applies only to the original purchaser named on the invoice.

Conditions of Warranty

This warranty is subject to the following conditions:

1. Care & Maintenance Requirements

The customer must:

  • Follow all manufacturer care and maintenance guidelines provided at the time of purchase
  • Use only approved cleaning products and methods
  • Take reasonable steps to protect the floor, including:
    • Using protective pads under furniture
    • Avoiding dragging heavy items across the surface
    • Using appropriate mats for high-wear areas and under castor wheels

Failure to comply with these requirements may void the warranty where such failure contributes to the defect.

2. Handover & Acceptance

At completion of installation:

  • The customer (or their representative) will be given the opportunity to inspect the flooring
  • Acceptance of the installation confirms the flooring was completed to a satisfactory standard at that time

Any visible defects must be reported prior to or at handover where reasonably practicable.

3. Appropriate Use

The flooring must be used only for its intended residential purpose.
The warranty does not cover damage resulting from:

  • Use outside normal residential conditions (e.g. commercial traffic)
  • High-impact or concentrated loads (e.g. stiletto heels on timber)
  • Pet damage (scratching, staining)
  • Use of unsuitable furniture (e.g. unprotected castor wheels)
  • Excessive moisture, flooding, or water ingress

4. Alterations & External Factors

The warranty is void where defects arise from:

  • Alterations, repairs, or modifications by third parties
  • Structural movement or subfloor issues beyond installer control
  • Environmental factors (e.g. moisture changes, temperature fluctuations)
  • Accidental damage or misuse

5. Claims Notification

  • Any defect must be reported within a reasonable time of discovery, and no later than 30 days after becoming aware of the issue
  • Claims must include supporting evidence (e.g. photos, description of issue)

Failure to notify within a reasonable timeframe may affect the ability to assess or resolve the claim.

6. Inspection Access

Customers must provide Flooring Xtra or its nominated representative reasonable access to inspect any claimed defect before repairs, alterations, or replacement work is undertaken by a third party.

Failure to provide reasonable access for inspection may affect Flooring Xtra’s ability to assess or resolve the claim.

7. Payment Requirement

This warranty is only valid once the account has been paid in full.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law:

  • Flooring Xtra store liability under this warranty is limited to the cost of rectifying defects in workmanship or installation
  • This may include repair, replacement, or reinstallation at the store’s discretion

Product Performance Warranty

Flooring Xtra partners with reputable manufacturers and suppliers who provide product warranties covering manufacturing defects, wear, and discolouration.

These warranties are provided directly by the manufacturer and are subject to their individual terms and conditions. Customers should refer to the relevant product warranty documentation for full details.

Important Note

This warranty operates alongside your rights under the Australian Consumer Law and does not exclude, restrict, or modify those rights.
